The Monstera adansonii is a curious plant to the new plant parent. It features holes on its leaves as it matures, giving it the endearing nickname of the “swiss cheese plant”. To encourage mature leaves, give it some support in the form of a trellis! Alternatively, it can be left to trail.

Water Moderately

This plant can tolerate a drier growing medium, but will do well if you water it regularly. Check that the growing medium is about halfway dry, then water thoroughly.

This plant will benefit from being in a location with medium to bright indirect light. A few hours of sun will also be enjoyed.

This plant requires a high humidity environment (75% >) to thrive, although it will tolerate a slightly less humid location.

The Monstera adansonii is a relatively hardy plant but can be prone to root rot. It should be grown in a well-draining mix and watered carefully to avoid this.
